Opening Ceremony of the new bus route No.109 from TIA to HCMC center area

On March 16th 2016, an opening ceremony for the new bus route no.109 was held in Tan Son Nhat International Airport (TIA) by Southern Airport Transportation Joint Stock Company (SATSCO) and HCMC Transport Department. This bus line aims to meet increasing demand of passengers to travel from TIA to HCMC center area.

This is a high quality bus line managed by SATSCO, operating from 5:30am to 0:30am (next day) with the frequency of 15-20 mins/trip. Full-route travelling time is about 45 mins. The price is 12,000 VND for routes less than 5kms and 20,000 VND for routes more than 5kms. Passengers from TIA can take bus at column no.12 – International Terminal and column no.18 – Domestic Terminal.

Outbound route: International Terminal - Domestic Terminal (TIA) - Truong Son - Hoang Van Thu - Nguyen Van Troi - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia – Ham Nghi - Ben Thanh Station – Pham Ngu Lao - 23/9 Park.

Inbound route: 23/9 Park – Le Lai – Quach Thi Trang Roundabout – Pham Ngu Lao – Yersin – Tran Hung Dao - Ben Thanh Station - Le Loi – Pasteur - Vo Thi Sau - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Truong Son - International Terminal.

All the international-standard busses are imported from South Korea with capacity of 70 passengers. Compared to other busses operating in HCMC, the new bus 109 has advantages such as: low floor, wide door which are convenient for passengers travelling with much luggage, the elder, pregnant women and disabled people to go in and out, next stop display and announcement in both English and Vietnamese, etc.

The new bus no.109 can contribute to meeting passengers’ demand of travelling in HCMC, decreasing traffic jams and changing community’s habit from using personal vehicles to public transportation.
